A papaya or a va-jayjay, hard to say which.
I am looking at artists associated with Art Informel & Tachism lately. Post WW II European gestural abstraction, the artists are so different from American Ab Ex. Smaller works, stranger, riskier somehow, more personal. Less about the heroic, more intimate. I dunno. I am trying to figure it out. More to come. Thanks for looking Dubz!
They were seen by the Americans at that time as shallow, that they were just stylists. But to me, it seems like there is a lot to learn from these artists, they illustrate so many different options for how to paint.
