Hi Krix! Nice to commune with you in the ether again. I have missed your sparkles.

Something I wish: that pimples could culminate in glitter instead of pus.

That is one of my favorite Hartungs. I have never seen any in person though.

Have you guys seen the Baroque tapestry show at the Met? It is mind-blowing. I want to go back. It's up until Jan. 6.

I got to use a wheelchair. It was fun.

Dear MM:
pull any wheelies? get to navigate the washrooms? stage some drag races in the corridors?
Aaaaaw.. you're being to polite..
US flipped when i was roling around the basement @ 47 Brockington last summer for a laugh. The chair ended up being gifted to an old age home the next week. He was NOt amused.
love all the pics - they do strongly remind me of elements of some of your works... wonderous!
Insanity continues. Kitti is latched onto the rose armchair of Sophies... gets very upset when I plunk myself into it..Am worried that i have caught strep trhoat from one of my collegues - she and her kids all have it. As usual i catch every bug in the office...may have to venture off to the Doctor's tomorrow for drugs....Wahaaa - we jsut got over a sinus cold.

mm, I saw the tapestry show, it was amazing. It would take years to PAINT even one of those pieces, let alone stitch them by hand. I like the idea of giant wall-cozies for chilly castles. Which one was your fave? Moses in the Nile was funny... who knew the Nile looked so much like an English garden?

Slothy! My favorite was the Battle at the Milvian Bridge - one of the Rubens. Blew my mind. Also loved the one in the first room with the battle on the water. That water was incredible. How did they even figure out how to schematize turbulent liquid. The more I looked the more mysterious the whole process seemed.

YES to the Rubens. I also loved that big battle scene with Perseus and Medusa, I'm not sure who that one was by...

It's so interesting to see how water was depticted pre- and post-photography... it used to be that painters would try to convey the motion, rather than the frozen impossibility of static water that the camera provides. So these peeps were trying to convey time/motion with a really static material, and it's fascinating to see how they worked it out.

The video of the weaving process made the whole thing all the more incredible.

p.s. is there really no Hartung in NYC? Crappity!
