Florine Stettheimer

She's been coming up recently in conversations, in reference to other artists and just as an all-time favorite. Let's look at some of her kookoo ideas. She is one of my favorite painters, she lived in Manhattan and celebrated everything fanciful and fantastico.

MM, Florine is repairing my Neurotransmitter. Yes, its downright perky! Thanking you!
The 3rd one down is making me very happy. She's sort of like a cheerful leanora carrinton

Love the bleeding sun.

Actually, that's going to be the name for my new goth band: Love The Bleeding Sun. And a nice Christic reference to boot. Propaganda magazine will refer to it as LTBS.

MM! what a coincidence... Florine had a fainting couch made from the Sonia Rykiel material on Corny's blog... she was so far ahead of her time it makes the head spin

OMG Slothy, too true! And look, foreseeing the trend towards wearing your vital organs on the outside, she's pulled out her uterus and is using it as a divining rod!

Mountain Man said...

Hi guys!!!! Nice to see you all here this morning. I was just over at Painter NYC blog and things were getting all argumentative and serious. Too much for me. I prefer the playtime metaphor of the early afternoon. My organs will be my new hat this season - I am going for the shriveled look. The post-party organ.

YES corny, again you are right! Uterus: the ultimate accessory...

Hi Ems! Last night was fun... lucky you to git some great arts. Hearts.

Mountain Man said...

Hi Slothy. Yes I am very happy to get my new art purchase. Have place picked out and everything.

I have been blogging all morning... bad, bad Sloth! Must go to studio...

I am trying to get going to but having a hard time. I hurts. I know, it's boring, I didn't even want to say it AGAIN. But my tum is all f-ed up for some reason keeping my up in the night and the mouth, oy, it still hurts and basically I just want to succumb into death. But I am ON THE MEND.

All I can say is yes. That orange/pink/red combo with curly shapes is so relaxing and exciting all at once.

you are brave, MM. you will get some kind of karmic reward for all of your suffering, I am sure of it.

Mountain Man said...

Oh dear Sloth, it's not bravery. It's faulty mis-wiring that causes anything possible to go wrong. If there's a chance of bad reaction to anything under the sun, then it happens. It's mystifying really. I am going to have to draw from home again today. That's ok. I love to draw. But there are these damn trees in a large painting down in the shack that need intensity-furthering. I just don't think I can do it today. Little marks, little marks. Tomorrow maybe, maybe tomorrow the big marks will come. Thank god for pens and paper.

I wish you a speedy recovery, MM, you are the inspiration for ether funs. We need you to be well so that you can fix us with your play.

congratulations! MM

You have earned an award

I haven't bothered to read your blog today but I must present this award regardless of your mood.

Regi, you are a darling. I am dazzled from the portal of my bed. My wish is to repay you for your thoughtful designation. Wouldn't you like to be a god too? Let's all be one, then we can roam about with more confidence and freedom, willy-nilly, in the style of the Greeks. I am thankful we have bumped into each other in the ether. It confirms that a sinful nature is positive.

Wow, regi, thats thome hell of a thalute. MM deserves it. MM is a god, but a cozy one, like a dashboard buddah me thinkth

PD, I thank you heartily as you are instrumental in every way for everything that happens in the world as I know it. Otherwise, why would I dream of you so often? I am glad you hate Eric Clapton. Did you know I hate Christopher Reeve? HATE. Ever since his accident, even in spite of his sad death. Sorry.

Mountain Man said...

My comment came before yours PD. I HATE THAT TOO!!!!!

I am cooking up the rumbles of gas and other ethyls in me tum.

I'd like to be Zues the god of thunder so I can heave lightening bolts into the asses of people who walk slow also to be heaving bolts at various political leaders, actually will be heaving some bolts at a certain client who truely tried to run me down with their oversized pickup truck, also, I'll be heaving bolts at dealers who owe me money, the guy who put a dent in the Jammy Jar and while I'm at it, will heave countless bolts at my studio landlord for plastering STICKERS on the Jammy J asking me not to park in "his" spot. For starters.

Mountain Man said...

Corny you sounds all kinds of f-ed up angry. I am ready to heave fists of lead measuring 6 feet across into the asses of anyone who even mildly irks you. The bed portal will give you this kind of delusion of physical strength. Lemme at that sticker-freak.

Corny said...

Thanks MM, your fists she be pain dreamcatcher only smashing more. Thanking.

A pack of linebackers are crowding my line of scrimmage.GTG
But first, picture Stealers (litterally) VS Seahawks (litterally). The seahawks could peck their theaving little hands off.

Mountain Man said...

Corny, this is some sexy talk, this football talk. Scrimmage is an underused word.

sloth said...

MM, you are the funniest, most noodle-ejecting goddess ever!

Wish I could be more clever but pain/dizziness are preventing. Grumble and blah.

Oh Slothy, I am sorry you are unwell. I hope for a speedy recovery for you too....me is still in the nausea special. Hi grumbly tum. Hi dizzy feelings. Hi gum trash.

MM, I love this. Maybe I will post her too. I like it over here. My blog is scaring me.

Anonymous said...

Painter, I LOVE your blog but sometimes I get scared too. Consider this your playtime refuge, you're welcome any and all the time.

Corny said...

Painter, your blog has caught on like a wildfire she roars, I've been hearing really good things like the peeps they go "have you seen PainterNYC?" and I go "YEAH!" and they go "woo-hoo"! Don't be scared, you do a great job just posting pics and let the comments come as they may.

Painter said...

thanks MM and Corny.

how're the sockets mm? me worrry.

when i saw the f. stetthemier show at the whitney 10(?) years ago it was like meeting my best friend. I was IN LOVE with this. a wonderland. I didn't have any idea who she was before i stumbled upon it. hearts.

btw, i am also afraid of the comments on painternyc sometimes... what's going on. painter, i love your blog. i hope the blowhards get bored and go away. is it just me?

On the one hand, I agree with Corny and think let things just happen, but then I think of Ed Winkleman's blog and how when things start to get out of control or someone is insulting, he comes in and says he'll shut the comments off and people behave better. Painter can't really do that seeing as her blog is all about the comments...but I wonder if it would be a good idea, Painter, if it's in your persona to do so, to say stop being out of hand. I mean well-thought out opinions are one thing but being all agressive and shitty is another. Just thinking about it.

But Painter, you are rocking the house. Maybe it will continue to evolve. Everyone I talk to loves your blog. It's so simple and brilliant.

Me wishes you the good lucks. You seem like a nice person so it must be weird to watch things go wild.

FB, Florine rules my house. She is the goddess and queen. The sockets are slowly improving. Not quick enough but better than yesterday. Thanks!

Painter said...

MM, thanks for the advise. I really don't know what to do about it. I want people to speak freely but then, I am like this is my blog and I am not enjoying the converstion anymore. Why so many angry painters?

Anonymous said...

I don't know, I guess it's easy to be a frustrated painter or artist, we all feel it sometimes but jesus, I don't get this "wanna fight" vibe - like everything anyone says is going to get misinterpreted and you'll get insulted.

This is an interesting social experiment you've got going, Painter. Who knows what will happen?
