Hans Bellmer Drawings

So good!!! The woozy, wavy lines themselves seem to refer to innards, interiority, unconscious bodily meanderings - echoing and reinforcing the dreamlike content. The lines are so precise, like they are performed, yet they refer to states of matter that seem in flux, out of control. I saw a show of Bellmer drawings at Ubu gallery uptown with Hams in 1999. So long ago...yikes.

More on this tomorrow. Nighty night. I am a fox on the run in the perilous danger of the nighttime hours.

I know, it's kind of wild, but he is the very same poupee Bellmer. They are amazing to see in person too, so delicate and precise, but visceral. Good stuff.

i can see how they SO relate to your current relics/preoccupations. i have been thinking about youf pinky relic mm. the glowing pink. and the nest one.

I am trying to work on a big nest painting but it is freaking hard to scale up, isn't it???? The nest is a happy place in the smaller painting, a place to rest, but in the large one it's like barbed wire, threatening, which is fine, but there is no focus to the painting yet - just indecisive random dispersal of trying-to-be-cool-looking sticks. The sticks are all "look at me, I look great" and I'm all "no you don't." F you sticks.

Are you going to the shack today FB?

I miss everyone, Hams, Sloth, PD, Krix. Hi everyone!!!! Come visit when you can. I know that Hams has lost at home access to the internets. Hams needs to buy Hams' own DSL. Hams is very naughty.

HAMS! you are very naughty!! i am curious to hear how the 2-dimensional relics are going these days?? can i come see?

MM, i am giggling with your "f you sticks". maybe it is ok that they are cool looking though? or not? i think it is hard to try to scale up a smaller painting - dont' think i've tried. dunno. i am horrified to admit that i cannot stop making paintings of the owls in the tree. what is my problem??! i try to move away and then it comes right back. i am all a mess in there. bad color which i love. but no one will like. oh well. stupid stuff i love, repeat. repeat. repeat.

yes, i go to shack today. hooray for the shack!!

Thanks for your thanks Lupin! Drawings are fun. Make some drawings on your office wall with spittle. Yeah!!!! Spittle rules.

Anonymous said...

yes spittle, in order to change my mood i have been drinking koolaid. my spittle is a rosetta and pink blush dependant on consistancy. i do like to watch it drip.

Lupin, that sounds very very beautiful and chock full of metaphoric potential. How are things outside the office???

My log has a brilliant new coat but has been drifting this was and that. Perhaps I should standing on the port side? i have also been craving a nice warm bath in disassociations. How about you MM, you brighten my day with your curatorials, you seem most lustrious these days!

Thanks Lupin. I am glad they are pleasing to you. It is due to the clients that I am so art-focused and in spite of the time it takes away from the studio, it is giving me back big in making me more aware of what I care about in art. And that I have a crush on art and on drawings in particular. What kind of coat does your log have? Is it porcupine quill? That would be a pretty fun coat to smear on. Does that sicken you?

How are you faring with your wizard?

Anonymous said...

I am a wizard unto myself with paperlace wings.

Anonymous said...

yes in fact it is a quil skin coat! I find it works well to untangle the dread-locks i get in my nether region. Specifically razzing myslef horizontally accross the sirface. I find a baleen comb works to de-snag my dewdrops and keep the quils clean

great to hear about your drawing. i would still love to come to your cave and view whats hanging on the walls....do you work in a cave?

Anonymous said...

It is quite a cave. But a nice cave. Sort of.

i larp myself on wizzard logs

Anonymous said...

looking, can i find Hams?

Anonymous said...

MM. WOW. I have never seen this artist. Very amazing stuff. and FB is right about the relation to your stuff, at least the relics that you were kind enough to share.

Thanks for sharing and thanks for being you! hooray!

Hi Krixers! Hi Gross Beak. Ham is incommunicado until Monday methinks. I miss PD sooooo much. And where is Sloth?

Anonymous said...

exactly. where is sloth.

Anonymous said...

MM, I want to see the sticks.

Anonymous said...

Krix when the sticks bend to my will more subserviently I will post. I am less shy I think to post now. Who cares, is what I say. What is the worst that can happen - a meanie will come on and tell me it stinks. F them. It's the same as the sticks. Right Krix?

Anonymous said...

Yes. It is the same. Just like sticks, just like butter.

Anonymous said...

i lube with butter. makes getting away faster

That is correct MM. F them I say.
